MPP Complex to be New Civic Landmark

The new nine-storey Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) complex at Mile 12 Jalan Kuching-Serian will be more than just an administrative building, it will serve as a civic landmark for the area, said MPP chairman Tan Kai during its groundbreaking ceremony officiated by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Tan Kai emphasized that the project embodies Padawan’s commitment to sustainability and aligns with the broader ASEAN climate agenda. It aims to be a people-centric, eco-friendly civic hub that fosters community engagement, cultural identity, and environmental responsibility.

He also acknowledged RM60 million funding under the 12th Malaysia Plan and credited former chairman Datuk Lo Khere Chiang for initiating the project.
